Through United Way over 36,000 lives have been touched in Monroe County!
Caring volunteers serve on the United Way Board of Directors to evaluate the needs of our local community.
This program provides Christmas for children in need that would otherwise received nothing.
United Way of Monroe County is a not-for-profit organization exempt from income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and provides supporting services and other assistance to public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the human service needs of the general public of Monroe County. UWMC is governed by a local board of directors and operates under charitable solicitation permits issued by the Sate of Tennessee. UWMC pays annual dues of 1% to the United Way Worldwide and .138% to the United Ways of Tennessee. UWMC 7% of the total amount pledged to UWMC to cover fundraising and administration costs. This amount is paid to the administrative and support services provider for UWMC.
